Welcome to thepebbles photo gallery!
I am passionate about photography and currently study photography at Brighton University. I am also a great fan of ceramic art.
While my style and choice of themes are still evolving, I try to find my subjects and images locally rather than in far away or exotic places. My influences are painters and sculptors as much as photographers like Mark Rothko, Alberto Giacometti, Harry Callahan, Lee Friedlander or Walker Evans to name just a few.
After many years in the "fast lane" I'm looking to capture a sense of simplicity, and the often overlooked richness and beauty that can be found in day-to-day objects or situations. My aspiration is to make images that invite and offer the viewer a moment of contemplation, reflection or simple joy in an otherwise often dreary and repetitive world
The gallery features a number of themes, I have a special interest in. Furthermore there is a diary section for pictures that don't fit into any of the current themes. I would be pleased to get your feeback and there is room for commentary under each photo.
I'm using 35 mm and medium format digital and analogue cameras. In addition to my studies, I am the photographer of the Charleston Trust near Firle. I also work as an intern for photoworks in Brighton.
The second leg of my artistic interest evolves aroud ceramic art and pottery. You will find pictures about potters and their work. If you feel inspired to find out more about these artists, they certainly look forward to welcoming you.
